With over a decade of expertise in developing Sustainability and Resilience strategies and managing the implementation of these solutions across diverse programs, I have honed my skills in orchestrating cross-functional roles to deliver custom-engineered solutions tailored to client needs. My approach has consistently led to successful project outcomes, notably reducing burdens on Facilities Maintenance staff through innovative and efficient project designs.

My specialization in crafting and integrating sophisticated Sustainable Energy and Water Efficiency Solutions to bolster Facility Resilience sets me apart in my field. A notable achievement was my instrumental role in establishing 'Water Efficiency Technologies' for Healthy Buildings / Underwriters Labs in Virginia, a venture that underscored my leadership in energy and water efficiency business development.

My breadth of experience extends to Steam System Optimization and Process Water reuse/repurpose initiatives within the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) sectors, including significant projects for the Department of Defense (DOD), DARPA, Department of Energy (DOE), Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and National Labs. Prior to my ventures, I contributed my expertise to three leading U.S. Water Efficiency firms, pioneers in integrating water efficiency into Performance Contracts.

In a pivotal role as Solutions Development Leader II at Johnson Controls, I led the development and execution of large-scale projects, overseeing engineering teams and subcontractors from inception through to commissioning. My commitment to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS&S) and Sustainability was a cornerstone of each project, ensuring holistic and responsible project management.

Before my foray into Energy Efficiency, my career spanned significant roles at Hughes Aircraft, G.E. Medical Systems, and Enerpac, focusing on Systems Engineering and Regional Management. My international experience includes founding a successful construction business in Afghanistan to support ISAF projects.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University, where I also completed the majority of my MBA coursework. I am certified in Energy Management (CEM), LEEDGA ®, ARCSA-AP, and MFBA-Prof, reflecting my commitment to professional development and excellence in my field. My recent work has concentrated on enhancing the resilience of U.S. Army, Air Thursday, July 11, 2024 Force, and Marine Installations, particularly in Mission Critical Facilities and Operations through the Installation Energy and Water Plan (IEWP).

As a leader, I pride myself on being a consistent top performer, driven by a blend of creativity, analytical prowess, technical expertise, and exceptional communication skills, coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset. Outside of my professional life, I am a proud father of four sons, who have pursued higher education at esteemed institutions including VA Tech, UVA, VCU, USC (South Carolina), and UC-Boulder, with two achieving PhDs in Marine Biology. My personal and professional journeys reflect a commitment to excellence, innovation, and the development of sustainable solutions for a better future.

In Ed’s Words:

My ability to be successful in a wide variety of roles where I have had no prior experience is one of my strengths. Being technically savvy, big-picture-oriented, creative, and ‘disarming’ has contributed to enormous success in my career. I have the natural ability to work across multiple vertical market sectors and internal business units, gaining respect from my peers with a full appreciation for what it takes for them to be successful in their roles. I am a ‘creative engineer’ and a natural leader, able to look at challenges from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives.

Being Resourceful should be an inherent skill for anyone who wishes to succeed in this LOB.

The support I receive from my family and my internal personal drive have been key factors in my successful life and business ventures.
